Proudly presenting the latest member of The Different Folk illustration crew: Maria do Rosário Frade.

Portugal-born, Paris-residing Maria creates her illustrations using simple, pure geometric shapes; with a healthy dash of surrealism, and a sprinkling of Gallic humour, chucked in for good measure.

Her drawings are offbeat – built from joyful lines and strong colours – creating a happy graphic style which has adorned print magazines from the world of work (Welcome To The Jungle), news (Les Echos Week-end) and uber-cool guitar sounds (So Young; check out her illo of Beth Ditto here).

In Maria’s words: “I take inspiration from daily life – and sometimes the absurd and the surreal."
